We source our Composite Doors from Door Stop, the largest composite door manufacturer in the UK who make nothing else but doors! Our composite doors are manufactured using highly durable GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and offer the very best in strength easy maintenance, security and weather resistance. Our doors are tested by the BSI by spraying two litres of water every minute directly at the door in their test chamber. Each exterior door is tested in a pressurised chamber to simulate gusting winds, up to the equivalent of 80 miles an hour (800 Pascal). That's stronger than a hurricane. SCI's composite doors come in 7 door colours; red, green, blue, black, white, oak and now also in darkwood and can now have their colour matched internally – truly groundbreaking. Most other composite door manufacturers only offer a white finish to the inside each door. We’ve looked at every detail of SCI's composite doors. And edge banding is no different. The edge of SCI's composite door is finished using an ash grained PVC. Once the edge has been applied, it is then trimmed and the edges milled to a radius so there are no sharp corners.Perfect. Being GRP treated means SCI's GRP doors are able to withstand the elements, no rust, no corrosion and the ability to withstand minor knocks and bumps without any visible damage and unlike wooden alternatives, SCI’s GRP composite doors will not warp or swell under wet or damp conditions. We are celebrating the new year by not passing on the new VAT increase. All quotations made at 17.5% VAT will be honoured and for all orders placed in January we will only charge you VAT at 17.5% bearing the extra 2.5% ourselves.

The Kommerling 58mm slimline PVCu window is being discontinued at the end of this month and so last orders for this product need to be placed by Friday 17th December 2010.

One of the very few windows able to achieve an A Energy Rating heta retention alone without having to rely on 'solar gain' from the weather outside to obtain the coveted rating. There is not much solar gain to be had at the moment!

The new Liniar NRG window is technically one of the most advanced windows available in Europe today, offering better security and energy efficiency than most of our competitors.

On 1st October new Building Regulations covering windows and doors come into force.
The primary change is to increase the minimum insulation value for windows to a C energy rating or equivalent.
We at SCI made this change nearly 2 years ago and now with our new Liniar NRG range of windows are able to offer a true A rated window which achieves the A rating purely by conserving energy within the home without relying on solar gain from the sun.

Just a quick note to say what a brilliant job you have done – I know how difficult it was, and I really appreciate all the hard work, expertise and care that went into it. Considering what a tricky job it was, and that you had to take all the debris through the house, there was little or no mess (a bit of dust, that’s all). A special thank you to Paul – not just for all his skill, but also for working long hours and Saturdays – and especially for taking care of garden and planters.
You will be pleased to hear that the downpour yesterday made a good job of washing it down and it still looks astonishing.

Friday 04/06/2010 - Not all A rated windows are the same!
Most PVCu windows can achieve an A Energy Rating today, but they rely on solar heat gain to achieve this, which is fine on a south facing window, although it may get a bit too hot in summer, but not much use on the north side of your house where there is no direct sunlight!
Our new Liniar NRG windows are so much more thermally efficient that they achieve an A rating without needing to use solar heat to qualify, so you get the benefit of a genuine A rating irrespective of which direction your windows face.

We at SCI have been installing PVCu Sliding Sash Windows for nearly 20 years.
We primarily install the Rehau PVCu sliding sash window and this looks virtually indistinguishable from original timber windows once installed, especially as we use softwood liners and architraves internally to replicate the original detailing.

One of the major developments in recent times must be Lead Free PVCu. Lead Free petrol was launched to reduce pollution, everyone who buys petrol now buys lead free because its the right thing to do, but sadly too many windows are still made with lead stabilised PVCu.
